2009 has been a busy year for award-winning film-maker, scientist and researcher Richard Fitzpatrick. He recently let us know what he has been up to and what to expect in 2010...
"I've been in the United States filming for a National Geographic series called 'Dangerous Encounters with Brady Barr'. I gave my TUSA drysuit a good workout up in Seattle filming the Giant Pacific Octopus."
"We've spent a lot of time [in 2009] getting all the initial videos made for The Reef Channel site & now have over 200 video clips. It's looking good, I recommend everyone checks it out!"
"In December, the new 20 part series on the Barrier Reef for kids called 'Barney's Barrier Reef' airs on the new ABC3 channel. It aired in England earlier in the year and was extremely popular."
"As for future projects - I'll be filming and co-producing a 3 x1 hour series on the Great Barrier Reef for the BBC/Discovery Channel. This will be the largest Barrier Reef natural history series ever made. We will start in the New Year and be filming for two years."
"Lastly, Prof. Jamie Seymour, who is the world expert on Box Jellyfish and other venomous animals, and myself, will be starring in a new TV series for National Geographic on dangerous animals. Natational Geographic are starting up a new cable channel called National Geographic Wild and we have been selected to be the new faces of the channel. All very exciting!"
Cheers,
Richard
